Nearly 300 enthusiastic runners and walkers participated in the SMGH Dash of Colour for Health event, presented by Goodlife Fitness, on Sunday, June 12th, 2016 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH).

3K & 5K participants were doused in brightly coloured powder at multiple stations throughout the race route, resulting in a spectacle of rainbow coloured runners and walkers.  All of the coloured powder used at the event was sponsored by Mainstreet Credit Union.  The 1K Kids Obstacle Course (which was a new attraction this year, sponsored by the Watford Optimist Club) provided children under the age of 8 years, with a fun and colourful activity.

The event also provided participants with a branded white t-shirt (which was rainbow-coloured by the completion of the event), race kit filled with goodies, free slice of pizza from Domino’s Pizza, refreshments, music and sponsor booths.  The final activity of the event was the ‘Colour Explosion’, in which all participants gathered and simultaneously threw their colour packet into the air, while counted down.  Colour blasters were set up around the perimeter of the crowd, resulting in a breathtaking multi-coloured cloud.

“Thank you to all of the event sponsors, participants and volunteers who made this incredible event possible,” says Susan McLean, SMGH Foundation CEO.  “The funds raised will support the Breast Assessment Program at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.”
